Therapeutic Social Groups

We provide therapeutic social groups that range from 60 - 90 minutes. The groups are supported by multiple therapists and intended to support the following developmental areas;

• Praxis and Motor planning skills
• Communication skills both verbal and nonverbal
• Play schemes and social dynamics
• Negotiations and problem solving capacities

The groups are organized around sensory motor play driven by the interests and preferences of the group members. Children are encouraged to negotiate and problem solve with their peers, while the therapists work to support their ideas and interests while facilitating communication and social pragmatics. These groups are intended to support the identified goal areas for each child and so we are careful to match the child with developmentally appropriate peers.
