Our groups are designed to cater to, and address the individual occupational therapy goals of each member. We carefully select group members to provide peers who can relate, share joy and also provide helpful models for one another.
Groups are intended to provide the just right challenges in the following areas to make the most of their time at Kids In Sync;
The array of peers will provide ample sensory stimuli and opportunities to effectively support changes in the nervous system for each member. The increased unpredictability and variety of peer provided stimuli while experiencing a range of emotional connections will support the neural changes we are aiming to support.
The peer models will help improve your child’s willingness and success in aquiring new motor skills and improving motor goals such as ideation, planning, organizing movements, adaptations, problem solving and overall efficiency in motor output.
When children learn along side their peers they are more likely to experience shared joy, confidence/pride, and expand their reflection capacities which can lead to greater insight.
Children benefit from being afforded opportunities to provide strong models for their peers. When we bring children together for groups we are very deliberate to ensure that each child brings a strength to the peer group allowing them to provide strong models for their peers who are learning along side them.
